The story of Rose of the Nile
A young girl Sofia met in Luxor, Egypt, in 2008 inspired this small yet intricately detailed portrait. The city was known as Thebes in ancient pharaonic times. The child in this painting could be seen as carrying the vast history of Egypt's civilization within her.
