The story of When the soul lies down in that grass
"When the soul lies down in that grass" is a fantastical piece, which depicts a nude woman lying in an eerie forest. Ferns and owls emerge from the mist.
Sofia was inspired to do this work in response to the quote: "Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I'll meet you there. When the soul lies down in that grass, the world is too full to talk about. Ideas, language, even the phrase each other doesn't make any sense."
- Jelaluddin Rumi, 13th century Muslim mystic.
